Our client is a data-driven business. This role will involve mainly greenfield projects and you will be joining them early on their cloud journey. You will be joining the team in the early stages of this journey, and will have a big impact on the development and direction of the wider Data team. You will be helping build out and develop their industry-leading data platform, championing data literacy throughout the organisation. As a company, they put data at the heart of everything they do, and you will play a big part in this. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the platform and approach to data and focus on creating better understanding of data throughout the business.

Role
- You will be part of a cross functional team where you are part of the wider Data community and working alongside Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Managers.
- As a data engineer in the personalisation team, you will help the team meet their goals and built out new capabilities in our Data platform in line with the architectural strategy.
- You will be building, deploying and operating and monitoring data systems with a focus on security and reliability.
- You will be working with structured, unstructured and semi-structured data on a regular basis.
- You will be working with a variety of data modelling approaches.
- Use of a variety of programming languages such as Ruby, Python and C#.
- You will be working remotely initially, with a view to working from the central Manchester office next year.
Experience
- You will have a number of years experience in a data engineering role, ideally with a software engineering background.
- You will have hands on experience of building scalable pipelines and re-usable infrastructure.
- You will preferably be degree qualified in a subject such as Maths, Physics, Computer Science or similar. Working experience instead of a degree qualification, however is valued just as highly.
- Excellent polygot programming exposure, preferably in Python, Ruby, C#.
